I'm posting this to remind myself tomorrow and next week why NOW is still not the best time to get a DOG (even though I check Craig's List, Noah's Ark, GCAS, GHS, and Petfinder every day):
1) Because as I laid in bed this morning, hearing the neighbor's dog bark profusely, I was very thankful it wasn't mine
2) After thinking about #1, I then realized that even if my dog wasn't barking profusely, he would probably be sniffing me out of bed to take him outside.
3) Our screen on the screen porch door needs to be fixed so the dog can use the doggie door to out.
4) My sweet Samuel still says he only wants a dog if it stays outside...he even showed me a "fence" he built with his blocks for our dog - so that it would have a big space to play outside.
5) Despite how wonderful it would be to have a dog eat Stella's food off the floor, I would have to vacuum and dust more because of dog hair.
6) I'm barely getting Keith in the bath tub....much less a dog.
7) Macey was the perfect dog....the next one may not be that easy.

I'm going to continue to add to this list because I do continue to think of things as the day happens. I think the hardest part of it is missing Macey and missing the "lifestyle" I had when I could have a dog. My life is now about 3 children and maintaining a house. To have the kind of dog I want (inside, part of the family) it's just not the right time. And I know this but still want one anyway. I want one for me. I want to be able to train him and spend time with him and I just can't do that now. Another hard part of motherhood.......sacrificial love. :D
And even though I know all of these things, I still struggle with the "desire" none the less....struggling to die to myself and my own selfishness daily with a cheerful heart. It's hard.

Stewart Family Mission Statement
Back in April, our family (Darrell's Mom's brother and sister) got together in Lenior, NC to celebrate several April birthdays and attend Goudapalooza '08. As part of the celebration each family was asked to bring their Mission Statement. As you can see, I miss using the marketing/advertising part of my brain. We collected famous "tag lines" to create our mission statement.
The Stewart Family Mission Statement:
As a growing family we believe “We get it”. There has been “One love since 1994”. We “Believe in the best” and believe “This is the place to be”. We love our family and it is “Grown for pleasure”.
Every morning we “Wake up with the King “ and always “Answer to a higher authority”.
Mommy believes “The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup” and we frequently find ourselves wondering “Got milk?”
Each day we promise to “Grab life by the horns”, even when “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking” because we believe “We bring good things to life” and “Quality is job one”. Often times “The only easy day was yesterday” and yet we are still grateful. We strive for “Getting things done” with our “Heart to God, hand to man”.
At the end of the day we still shout “Just do it”, “Do unto others as you would have done unto you”, and “Be all you can be”. But on the occasional “You deserve a break today”, “For all you do, this Bud's for you”. Because there are days where “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't”.
So, “Life's good” and “There's no life like it”. “Feel the force”. “It's everywhere you want to be”.
Because at the end of the day “You can't top the copper top”. “He keeps going and going and going”.
