You keep thinking.....

It's going to get easier right?? And the answer is of course no and yes. With children I've decided, things do not get easier, you just trade one phase for the other. Where there was once a continous time of breast pads, sore nipples, formula powder, and bottle washing, that turns to a continous usage of clorox wipes to clean the floors that are used during potty training, and then that fades into the season of questions and explaining and hard discipline and the list could go on and on - because I have friends that have older children and their hard time is too much phone texting, friends that are bad influences, teens learning to drive, etc.
I decided this Christmas that it was actually harder than last years. As I quickly went through the boxes of Christmas decorations and gave Darrell a "yes" or "no" as to whether we were putting those decorations up or not, it was evident that I was in a hard place. A place that felt somewhat overwhelming and "what's the point?". I felt guilty for not putting up everything that I normally put out and I could see Darrell's disappointment also but the thought of having to put up and take down that much stuff made my head hurt.
I thought back to last year and wondered....well, I did it all last year and had a newborn!! But that was just it - last year with a newborn was MUCH easier than this year with a 14 month old. He is busy - very busy. AND so is my 5 1/2 year old, as well as his sister who is now 3.
So, the point is this -
You keep thinking, "things" will get easier - and they will, but then again they won't...but do the best you can and let go of the guilt, do not compare yourself to others (for we all have our weaknesses, some are just more visible than others) and pray that God will bless you enough to have another chance to do it over again and possibly (by the grace of God) even better!!
I have missed blogging but I've been busy and though I've thought many times, things will get easier, I know they won't, so I am hoping to be more deliberate and blog anyway....

Stewart Family Mission Statement

Back in April, our family (Darrell's Mom's brother and sister) got together in Lenior, NC to celebrate several April birthdays and attend Goudapalooza '08. As part of the celebration each family was asked to bring their Mission Statement. As you can see, I miss using the marketing/advertising part of my brain. We collected famous "tag lines" to create our mission statement.

The Stewart Family Mission Statement:
As a growing family we believe “We get it”. There has been “One love since 1994”. We “Believe in the best” and believe “This is the place to be”. We love our family and it is “Grown for pleasure”.
Every morning we “Wake up with the King “ and always “Answer to a higher authority”.
Mommy believes “The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup” and we frequently find ourselves wondering “Got milk?”
Each day we promise to “Grab life by the horns”, even when “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking” because we believe “We bring good things to life” and “Quality is job one”. Often times “The only easy day was yesterday” and yet we are still grateful. We strive for “Getting things done” with our “Heart to God, hand to man”.
At the end of the day we still shout “Just do it”, “Do unto others as you would have done unto you”, and “Be all you can be”. But on the occasional “You deserve a break today”, “For all you do, this Bud's for you”. Because there are days where “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't”.
So, “Life's good” and “There's no life like it”. “Feel the force”. “It's everywhere you want to be”.
Because at the end of the day “You can't top the copper top”. “He keeps going and going and going”.
